Well it would seem that the Comicpress theme works as it should. I’m happy about that, and I’m happy that I was able to fix the RSS feed for both my sites. Now that everything is working on the web side of this little operation I think it is time to get my butt drawing and writing. You will get a few more of the early sketches and a test frame that I did with my Wacom tablet. Enjoy, leave any feedback you wish and hopefully the first actual comic will be up soon.

Comic for July 18, 2008 - Character Sketches

I am sorry that I have been doing just that. I’ve been making you all wait for this strip to start. I feel like a failure partly because I am not happy with the way the art is going, and I am not at all used to my Wacom tablet. I have to admit that it is not natural to my drawing style. I am starting to hand draw the characters and then I will scan them in and see if I like that result better. I promise that it is coming, it will be here, I just don’t want to tell you a time or a date and not be able to follow up on it. I want this to be a growing process, but I have also envisioned it in a certain way and I want it to come at least close to that product. I want to be able to give you something that you will enjoy and I’ll be proud of. Look for some of the character sketches that I’ve done to show up in the next few days.

Ok I have to admit that I’ve been lax on getting the comic done. I have been playing with a few artistic styles, trying to find the right look for the comic. I tend to be a bit of a perfectionist with my art, so please bear with me. I have also found a new joy in the MMO Age of Conan. It is visually amazing and I am absolutely addicted. This has put a slight dent in the amount of time I have put in on the comic. Fear not, oh faithful reader, as I am going on the family vacation and will be with out my gaming computer. I hope to get a few weeks ahead in the webcomic so I can indulge in both of my addictions. I can at least try, right.

Just a quick update on the state of my Thoughts. I have the first couple of strips written and I am working on some character sketches and then the real work begins. Hopefully I can get one up by next week. It will be a weekly comic, at least at first, until I get the hang of drawing it. Hopefully you guys will like it. Oh, if you are wondering why the title, it has been the only thing in the past few days that has kept me sane. My life is anything but simple.

So it all begins……

Ok here we are, June 10, 2008. Mark the date boys and girls. This is the date that Thoughts of a Simple Man got started on the web. Things to look for in the upcoming days:

• Some sample art for what the comic will look like.
• Updates on my progress and the learning curve of doing a webcomic.
• and lastly, all things working and the stars aligning just right, the first comic should hit the interwebs early next week.

I’m hoping that I can put out one comic a week at first and then as I get better at drawing it and writing it, then I’ll make it more frequent.

Wish me luck all, and most importantly, please leave me feedback. Even if you think it is all crap. I just want to know what you think so I can change things and make it more fun for you and me both.
