NaNoWriMo starts in 14 hours, and this year I am scared to death. I have no idea where my story is going to start, let alone end and forget the stuff in the middle. I really have no even faint plot idea, except that it is going to be a horror/thriller (which I have never tried before) and involve the supernatural. Guess my head will be trying to figure out what I am going to write about so I can get in at least 2000 words tomorrow. Wish me luck, I think this year I am going to need all the help I can get.

Hello all, been a while since I posted. Things have been crazy at home and at work and some of it was completely out of control nuts, but that is a story for another day. Today we discuss Vampires and horror stories and NaNoWriMo.

First I have decided to write a horror type story for NaNoWriMo this year. I leaning toward a mystery that involves the supernatural and of course vampires. It will revolve around a news report who is reporting on the crimes as they take place and starts to realize that there is more going on than just a simple bunch of murders/crimes. It will be a departure from my usual writing and I’m really looking forward to it. I need to have an good overview of what is going on, and I’ll be hammering out those details in the next few days.

I’m hoping to get back into the blogging a bit more and I want to keep a detailed journal of how I am doing and the problems and issues I find myself up against during NaNoWriMo this year, and possibly with some audio posts mixed in so don’t forget to check out Thoughts of a Simple Man for those.

Well it is that time of year again. Many of my friends are gearing up for NaNoWriMo again. I’m find myself even thing about what topic to tackle this year. Currently I’m leaning toward a horror/mystery story involving Vampires. I don’t really know though. I’m kind of affected by the new show on HBO Trueblood as I have been watching it lately and my mind has been thinking about vampires. That may change in a month but the planning has begun. the count down to NaNoWriMo has started. God help us all.

I have realized that I don’t have the time nor the skill to complete it to my satisfaction, so I am moving further on with my life and the focuses that I wish to spend my time on. I just simply don’t have the time in a day to do everything that I want to. I am going to focus on my writing and per the suggestion of a friend I am going to do a podcast/audio blog about the difficulties of a full time employee, full time dad, and writing neophyte, finding time to write, time to be a father and husband, and some time to relax and enjoy life. It will also be from the point of view of someone (namely me) that has had no formal writing training. I definitely don’t lack for ideas but you have to bear with me as I’m learning the other tools needed to be a good writer. I hope that you will all stick around, as I hope it will get me to write more and regularly create. I am learning the audio part so bear with me there as well. I would love it to sound like Tee Morris‘ various podcasts, someday maybe, but I can only dream of being that good. So stick around, changes are coming. So “Will you still be there further on?”

Those of you who read my other blog, My Notes, know that I am going through a rough spot in my relationship and marriage. I need to put my focus there for a bit. I have been watching the incredible Jeph Jacques of Questionable Content as he has been posting movies of him drawing and working on his comic online. I think his strip is great and his art is great, so check it out. It has given me some pointers and some ideas on how to build my comic. I have been working on the style of the comic and what I want it to look like and hopefully once things stabilize I will be posting the comic on a weekly basis.

I have been going through a lot of stuff in my personal and professional life in the past week or so. I near got myself fired last week but it did accomplish one thing. I am working on getting a new job. I have finally had it with the middle school politics and my boss and is cliques in this place. If you aren’t related to my boss or related to who he is sleeping with you get ridden about every little thing. I can’t take it anymore and I need to work somewhere that is more professional and I might have room for advancement. My personal life has also taken a turn for the worse. My marriage is starting to fail and I’m not sure if we can repair it. My wife and I have both escaped into our video games. I have Age of Conan, she has Second Life. She plays her game all the time. I’ve tried to cut back on mine, be more interactive with the kids and her, but I feel that he doesn’t see. I spent 2 hours on the game in the past two days. But during those two hours her mom came by to visit and I got yelled at for being on the computer. She on the other hand has rarely come to bed before 12 am and has been as late as 2 am. She is always on and I don’t say anything, I’m just done with the whole argument about game time. She can do want she wants on there as well. She has been a player and had virtual sex with many partners and recently she had a steady boy friend online. I know that I have not been a saint in my past, but I am hurt by this virtual exploration she has been doing. I know I should count myself lucky that it has just been online, but there are still emotions attached to the whole thing. It hurts, it hurts a lot. I know I am the last one who can complain about being hurt by my relationship. God knows I’ve hurt her so much that I’m not even sure why she is with me. I just feel that most of this is happening as her way to get revenge for my errors in the past. I guess I just have to either live with it or move on. I’m really not sure which I want to do, but I suppose she has some say in this as well. I guess for now I wait and see, but I can’t go on like this forever.

So I apologize for not having the comic finished yet, things have been…. well crazy. I don’t want to disappoint you all and I feel that I have let you down. Please stay with me, I hope things get better soon.

Life has done it to me again, and I need some interns to help me out. I have been derailed, at least for the past week on my plans of finishing my webcomic Thoughts of a Simple Man… I have had to deal with my ineptitude on my wacom, but mostly it has been family. Coming home from vacation and getting the house and pool back in order so we can live and and use the pool during the heat of the summer. I promise that I will be working on the comic, I just need to “prioritize” my time as a great talented woman always says. Plus I have to remind myself that it is “Ok to suck.”

Speaking of the lovely and talented Mur Lafferty, her incredible book “Playing for Keeps” is set to be released on Amazon.com on the 25th of August. I recommend that you check out her book, and support her. She is a very cool writer and very talented and I have to say she is my idol. She accomplishes so much and I am a bit envious of that.
